For years, retail investors have talked about a simple problem: serious investment opportunities are often closed to anyone who isn’t already a multi‑millionaire with a private wealth manager.
In this interview from the LiquidityFinder Autumn Social, Adam Hill explains how SGT Markets has built an AI‑driven platform that fractionalizes access to professional money managers and turns what used to be a high‑threshold, admin‑heavy process into something that can eventually work for “Ma and Pa” investors with just five or ten thousand dollars.
A supermarket of professional funds
Hill describes SGT Markets as a ‘supermarket’ of professional funds that are usually inaccessible to most investors. Instead of each manager having to deal with onboarding, KYC/AML, reporting and compliance overhead, SGT’s structure takes all of that away.
“We’ve essentially created the structure so that [managers] can focus on trading and marketing themselves,” Hill says.
A Swiss management company oversees the investments, giving investors comfort that managers are doing what they say they’re doing. BDO, the accounting firm, has been brought in so that qualified programs can be externally audited and investors can see raw performance data for themselves.
Built from the ground up with AI
Where this gets interesting for brokerages and fintechs is the technology layer. Hill is direct: the next wave of retail‑facing financial businesses will have to choose back‑ends that are AI‑friendly, with proper API structures that let automated investment platforms plug in.
Trademakers is built with that in mind:
- An AI firm in the US is building modules across regulation, compliance, onboarding and portfolio construction.
- Clients answer questions about risk tolerance, time horizon and objectives; the system then suggests a portfolio constellation.
- Larger allocators are the focus today, but the plan over the next 12 months is to refine the model so that smaller investors can participate without creating extra admin work for managers.
Hill summarized:
“We take all of that admin work away from them. The reporting, the onboarding, the compliance side. We said, ‘You do your best at trading. And grow your business.’”
